Blood Links: A Super Smash Brothers Melee fanfic
Prelude of sorts to the Fantasy Series
Rated T for character death and language
Chapter One: The First to Fall...

At long last, my time has come. The plan is complete; all there is to do now is put it into action. It is time for me to do what my heart truly wanted me to do ever since I first got here...

Six smashers shall lose their lives in a span of a month, and they will lose it for something they cannot control. But what they can't control...it blinds me. It frightens me. It sets fear into my heart when nothing else can. I must make sure it cannot harm me. This is why I must kill them. Those six who I fear...

I start simple, and from there I work my way up. The first should not be too hard. In that public, yet private place, his life shall end...a simple midnight surprise shall lead to a roe's demise.

The elements wrought a hellstorm; what should've been an ordianary rainy night was anything but. Most of the smashers miraclously slept through the lightning, thunder, and rain, but a few could not take Mother Nature's noise.

Falco Lombardi found himself awaken after yet another nightmare; visions of drowning in rainwater or else dying by lightning strike clouding his head. The noise was of no help either; no matter how he tossed and turned, he could not bring himself to fall back asleep. He brought himself to a sitting position with a sigh; clad in nothing but a simple pair of boxers.

"Stupid rain..." he muttered fiercely; watching the lightning and rain. "How can it go from a nice, peacefully sunny day to a cold, harsh, and just plain old evil rainy night in an instant!?"

His eyes adjusted to the darkness after another blast of lightning came and faded away. Deciding to see if anyone else was awake, he grabbed his traditional white jacket and slid it over his shoulders. Walking over to his door, he flicked the light switch; the room remain dark.

"Oh wonderful!" he cried. A flash of lightning crashed into his window, shattering it with a clang. Startled, Falco jumped; straight into the door. The thunder only seconds later hid his colorful language. "I hate thunderstorms!" How the hell his fox of a cousin could actually like them was beyond him.

Deciding to check the power fuse and see if he could restore power sounded better to him than trying to sleep now that the wind and rain was able to enter his room, and he opened his door. Grabbing a flashlight, which lay in waiting on a table nearby, he turned it on and peered out.

A slam echoed throughout the mansion; the faint sound it emited told the falcon it was near the arena. 'Burglars...' was his first immediate thought. Grabbing his blaster, which also lay on the table, he stormed out of his room.

But as he went throughout Smash Mansion, nothing indicated that there were intruders; everything was in proper order. Eventually deciding that he was hearing things, Falco headed for the basement...only to hear the door slam again. He rushed for the arenas; who the hell found entertainment in slamming doors in the middle of a stormy night!?

Barging into the arena's lounge, he barely had enough time to hold his blaster at his side; a blunt object slammed into his head. Dazed and confused, the avian collapsed onto the floor.

Falco had little idea how much time had passed when he finally came to; it was still dark, and the hellstorm that was supposed to be rain was still going strong. As his senses returned, he realized he was standing on a table in the kitchens, hands tied behind his back and a firm rope noosed around his neck.

"So, you are awake." Falco began glancing around as a male voice echoed from around the room. "I did not think you would wake in time."

"Who are you?" The avian asked. "What do you want with me!?"

"You have family. You are family." The voice seemed to have no main source. Was it a ghost!? "You are cousin to Fox McCloud, are you not? You must pay for your blood."

"But...but that makes no sense! What the hell are you talking about? And...how the hell did you know that Fox is my cousin!?"

"Goodbye."

Before Falco could respond, the table broke from underneath him. It only took a second; not even long enough for him to see his life flash before his eyes. From that moment onward, the avian known as Falco Lombardi was no more. Light flashed; thunder boomed...and he hung there with ope, but dead, eyes.

In the sunny calm that was morning, Zelda blinked awake, feeling something to be very wrong. She shook it off; how could anything happen to the smashers?

She headed for the kitchens; suddenly inspired to start making breakfast even before Peach. She wasn't aware, however, of the surprise that waited.

He was still hanging...with those dead eyes...

Zelda fell to her knees.

Someone was after them...

She let out a piercing scream.

One down, and five to go. They shall be destoryed. It shall be removed from the world. First the smashers here...then the citizens of the island...and even beyond.

For now, however, five shall lose their lives another day.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO...Blood Links. The prequel fic to the Fantasy series. As I said many times now, revamped, and better than ever!

The main plot of this and all the fics are staying the same, of course, but if you want to go to FF.net and compare this first chapter to the older one, well...big difference. I hope. ^^;

So, we have a murderer, and he has a diary! XD The bolded and italized comments before and after the chapter itself are entries from this diary. Pretty smart and strong to do what he did to Falco. O.o

...yes, the murderer is a he. And I've done and am redoing some old cliches (probably). Shut up.

Nonetheless, please enjoy. =D
