Chapter Six: Newly Made World: Hyrule

Roy, Zelda, Luigi, and Peach were to travel to the north. Mewtwo was to remain on the island and watch the Angels’ Door. Mario, Dr. Mario, Pikachu, and Yoshi were to travel to the Mushroom Kingdom. Falco, Popo, Link, and Falcon were to travel to Hyrule.

Everyone gathered in Smash City’s port; Crazy Hand was soon to arrive with transportation for those traveling to the far northern reaches of the planet.

“Being hidden, we must ask for something from over there,” Master Hand insisted as the people waiting for or getting off their ships made sure to glance over at the smashers; them and Master Hand ever appearing out of the mansion was still a rare event. “I believe Jeremy is trying to get a chariot, but we’ll see what he comes up with.”

“And the rest of us will take ships to Hyrule or the Mushroom Kingdom?” Mario asked.

“I will fly ahead to Hyrule when Jeremy gets here,” Master Hand said. “He will then head out for the Mushroom Kingdom. Mewtwo should be fine on his own.”

“Unless something happens…” Link muttered. “No matter; we should focus on regrouping and getting that weapon first, right?”

“Striking while unprepared before cost us greatly,” Master Hand said regretfully. “This time, it may be even worse. We must be ready to go.”

“Brother!” Everyone, citizens included, looked up to the sky; Crazy Hand had appeared with a red chariot that could fit four. It was plain, save for a few stars painted onto the side. The left glove lowered it to the ground carefully, causing the citizens and tourists to clap. “Is this good?”

“Perfect,” Master Hand said, bobbing. “Roy, Zelda, Luigi, and Peach, the chariot should guide you to the city of Eternia automatically. You may see Nina; if not, find a guard of the city, and ask to see Nivian Lant.”

“Nivian Lant?” Peach asked.

“He is a GateKeeper; a guard of the holy gates that link between the mortal realms and the Upperworld. He should be on call only, however, so he should be in Eternia. He knows where the holy lances wait, and he will be the one to guide you.”

“What does he look like?” Roy asked.

“He represents the flame,” Master Hand replied. The four looked to each other. “Do not worry; when you see him, you’ll understand. Now go. …And good luck.”

The four boarded the chariot, which immediately jumped to life, rose into the sky, and flew off; always heading north. An incoming ship blared its horn, which caused the remaining smashers and gloves to turn towards the ocean.

“Your tickets should be paid for already,” Master Hand said. “Hyrule team, I will see you soon enough.” With that, he floated east across the water.

“MK team, I’ll see you guys when you get there!” Crazy Hand said, giving a wave and trailing after his brother.

The Hyrule team nodded to each other, said their farewells to the citizens and fellow smashers, and joined those waiting to travel to Hyrule.

-------

The change was immediate as soon as they left the island’s part of the ocean.

What used to be a calm sunny day was anything but; clouds threatened to pour rain as the waves started getting more and more rocky. Not drastic enough to capsize the ship, but enough to get the smashers worried.

“This is almost scary…” Popo muttered, watching the unsettled water.

“Chaos has becoming the dominating element,” Link said; his eyes on the clouds. “I bet anything even the sun is unsettling.”

“That is, if the sun even shows itself behind these clouds,” Falco muttered. “So, darker weather, maybe some more destruction than usual, and frames? Is that what we should expect?”

“Lots and lots of frames, I’m sure,” Falcon muttered. “Probably. Hopefully, most of the people were able to escape.”

“Why would people still travel anyway?” Popo asked.

“More and more of the outside world have been coming to the island,” Link said. “While fewer are leaving, but I think they want to see what’s going on. Perhaps they’re curious, or they want to help, or else they want to see what’s become of their family.”

“Yeah, I think everyone here’s armed,” Falco added. “Even the crew. I guess that’s when you know things are serious.” He shrugged.

“I wonder who’s waiting for us in Hyrule?” Popo asked. “You think Nana and Ganondorf are there?”

“I’m hoping they are,” Link replied. “And Young Link.”

“Fox too,” Falco added.

“You think Samus and Ness might be there too?” Falcon asked.

“Hopefully,” the avian replied.

“We should be landing in Lake Hylia, right?” Popo asked.

Link nodded. “They found a path between the mountains that leads to the lake. Lake Hylia has always been a small symbol of Hyrule’s welfare, as the clouds around Death Mountain are a symbol of the mountain’s welfare.”

“So don’t be surprised if it’s drained or anything like that?” The ice climber asked. The hero nodded his reply.

“We’ll find out when we get there,” Falcon said.

-------

It had been a few more days before Popo exited the interior of the ship and spied the lake. “Guys! Look!”

It still had its water, and it was still, but the water was tainted a deep black color. The ice climber carefully peered into the lake as Link, Falco, and Falcon appeared.

The avian cursed. “What the hell is that!?” He peered over as well. “Can’t see my own reflection…think anything lives in it?”

“I can’t imagine anything being able to live in that…” Link muttered. The ship continued its way to the small platform above the water temple. “At least the bridges are still intact. Hey look!” He pointed to the shoreline.

Master Hand floated patiently near the lake lab by the shore. Link couldn’t help but wonder what had happened to the professor that used to occupy it, and shivered at the idea of the frames getting him and tossing him into the now blackened lake.

The few travelers and the smashers descended the ship and crossed the two bridges. All save the smashers continued to Hyrule proper; the sky had not changed.

“Night and day seem to have merged into one,” Master Hand said.

“I don’t like this…” Falco muttered. “We gotta find the others, and soon!”

“Any signs of wireframes?” Link asked.

Before Master Hand could reply, a body bag smashed through the door of the lab and landed near the smashers’ feet. It began squirming as eight male wireframes exited the building.

“Hoy! Give us back our ball!” One of the frames shouted. Link and Popo drew their weapons and ran forward as Master Hand and Falco shot at the frames. Falcon knelt by the bag and began untying it.

“Now, let’s see what we have here…” He opened the bag, and Nana rolled out, regaining lost breath.

“I can breathe fully again!” The female ice climber shouted. “Even seeing that horrible sky is a relief!”

“You okay, Nana?” Falcon asked.

“Uh huh.” She jumped to her feet, drew her hammer, but stopped short. “Popo!?”

“We’ll explain later!” The racer shouted. “Let’s knock those frames out!” He ran forward; Nana at his heels.

Popo gave a cry when Nana ran up to him, and the twins ganged up on their frame, pounded it to the ground, and moved onto the next one. Link repeatedly stabbed any frames that engaged him, and he stabbed any that were on the ground to make sure they were destroyed. Falcon punched and kicked, sending the frames into the wall of the lab, and Falco and Master Hand finished them off.

At long last, all eight frames did not move. The glove picked them all up and tossed them into the water, where they laid floating until a giant fish like mutant broke the surface and feasted before diving back down into the depths.

The ice climbers shrieked at the thing’s appearance, and even Falco’s eyes were twitching. “Oh damn…what the hell was that thing…?”

“Something that shouldn’t bother us as long as we stay away from the water…” Master Hand replied uneasily. “No matter.” He turned to Nana. “Are you well?”

“They were using me as a ball for their stupid games,” The ice climber said. “Just let me get used to the outside air, and I’ll be okay. But Link! Falco! And Popo! Why are they…how are they-!”

“You are aware that Genes has established chaos on the world, have you not?” Master Hand asked. The female smasher nodded. “Everyone was scattered, save the four who went into the Door.”

“Yeah, they ended up in the Final Destination, which is back,” Falcon said. “They met Master Hand’s wife; Nina.”

“Master Hand, you have a wife?” Nana asked. “Will we be able to meet her?”

“Soon.”

“She told them that the Door’s shut, but Marth’s holy weapon can also open it,” Falcon continued. “So Roy, Zelda, Luigi, and Peach went to go get it. The rest of us decided to split up and search for you and the others.”

“Dr. Mario, Mario, Pikachu, and Yoshi are with Crazy Hand in the Mushroom Kingdom,” Link added.

“And you guys?” Nana asked, looking towards her brother, Link, and Falco.

“Well, I guess it happened while the guys in the Door were at the Final Destination. We were floating in the lake,” Falco said. “And then we realized we were alive, so we headed back to the mansion. All of us are back, and Mewtwo’s ready for some revenge. He’s watching the Door right now.”

“Well, things have gotten complicated, but it’s good to see you alive,” Nana said, smiling and hugging her brother. “And it’s good to know we’re all on the same side again.”

“Yeah,” Popo agreed.

“Nana, do you have any idea where the others might be?” Master Hand asked.

“No, sorry,” Nana shook her head. “I was captured and stuffed in that bag before I realized where I was. This…this is Hyrule, isn’t it? This is the new world?”

“The world of chaos…” Link shook his own head. “But once we get everyone, we’ll fix things. We’ll make sure this never happens again.”

“Excellent words,” Master Hand said. “Now, shall we move on? Let us see who else waits for us in this newly made Hyrule…this newly made world.”

...yeah. 8D

So, newly made world; Hyrule style! ZOMG gasp trouble! And Nana has been found! Yay!

There will be two Hyrule chapters, and I'm thinking we'll see what's going on in the Mushroom Kingdom and the first part of what's going on in the northern continent before we get back here. But nothing's set in stone, so I dunno.

Names and places and EVIL BLACK WATER! (Oh my.)

So, that should be it. Nana's free and caught up; who shall be saved next?

Listening to FE:RD music while reading makes these chapters more intense. X3 But then I don't realize when it stops. D:

(Current Sake status: Getting into the battle scene; my carpal paranoia hath ended. :aww: ...But I still need to find time for PoR, and I get distracted from both. D: )
